About
Our College
The WV State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists license Mountaineer Beauty
College, Inc. to operate in the state of West Virginia. Our accreditation
is through the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Science
(NACCAS). To be licensed in the state of West Virginia, an applicant must
be 18 years of age, a graduate of an accredited school and pass the State
Board Examination. We are an institution devoted to the training of women
and men for careers in beauty culture and to supply employers with professional
personnel in the fields of cosmetology and manicuring.
Our facilities are new, modern and up-to-date. The clinic area consists
of working stations where students work on customers under the direct supervision
of an instructor. Theory classrooms consist of visual aids, chalkboard and
library to aid students in learning theory and practical portions of cosmetology
and manicuring.
The fields of manicuring and cosmetology are not considered by many to be
physically demanding, but you will find that both professions do require
a certain amount of stamina. In Cosmetology there is prolonged periods of
standing and bending at the waist. In manicuring there is prolonged periods
of sitting and bending. The arms and hands in both professions are in constant
motion and manual dexterity is required.
Practical classrooms are furnished with working stations for the students
to learn practical aspects of the techniques of basic hair styling on mannequins.
The school year also includes guest artists and speakers from such companies
as Matrix, Redken, Creative Nails and others. These companies conduct advanced
classes in permanent waving, hair coloring, artificial nail enhancements
and product knowledge.
